Our experienced FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) will oversee your project certification activities.

DO-178B classifies software into five levels of criticality, related to anomalous software behavior that could cause or contribute to a failure of system functionality:

• Level A: Resulting in a catastrophic failure condition for the system
• Level B: Resulting in a hazardous/severe-major failure condition for the system
• Level C: Resulting in a major failure condition for the system
• Level D: Resulting in a minor failure condition for the system
• Level E: No effect on system operational capability

In addition to the development requirements imposed on projects by DO-178B, each level clearly specifies software testing guidelines.
